 Writing a CV

Common CV error - number five.

It is not recommended to include a photograph with your CV unless you are in specific and specialist sectors such as media and entertainment. In the first instance, it would be outside of what the recruiter had expected or requested and this alone may cause your CV to be rejected from among the 200 plus that the recruiter has to asses.

There is a strong psychological reason why a CV should not include a photograph unless it was specifically requested.

No matter how educated, liberal or fair minded we claim to be, every one of us makes conscious and unconscious decisions when we view a photograph of someone. Whilst the relative attractiveness would be an obvious thought, research shows that we form an opinion on a wide range of subjects such as: the persons age, health, trustworthiness, social standing, self esteem and myriad other facets of their personality.
